Mike & Sybil arrived early evening on the Thursday and we unloaded the beautiful Scout, less the sidecar, and after the usual “chinwag” Mike decided that he and Sybil were going to have a practice ride together on the park drives. I was amazed to learn that Sybil had not ridden pillion with Mike before and after a “shaky” few minutes Mike shouted “Sybil, we are going to need a lot more experience and I shall have to ride single on the ride outs”.
Anita & Peter arrived in the early hours of Friday and by lunchtime more members had arrived and set up in the Touring Park Meadow. Some did their own thing and a small group of us planned a run of some 30 mile. Sybil and I led in my car, using small country roads, following the coast up to Poppit Sands where we visited a tea-shop and a short walk to the beach.
Mike later described the route as an “assault course” as it included a steep hill with two serious hair-pin bends. I was proud of Snowy at this section as he had very little experience on his post-war Chief, a proper Indian. At this point I thought it wise to avoid a Ford on the route. Instead a 6 mile ride to Cardigan town for petrol and a 12 mile journey back to the Manor.
Early evening and a trip to Letterston, around 15 miles, for fish and chips, all seated comfortably within enjoying a good meal together. Marilyn, Sybil, Mike and I were the pathfinders in my car. Very good indeed and in good company.
On Saturday, Kev from Carmarthen had planned a ride to Cenarth and lunch in the village pub. Not the best weather but we all set out at late morning and the day gradually improved. A short ride down the Teifi valley to the character county town of Cardigan and a short walk around the quaint old pubs and shops. Another short ride of 12 miles down the A487 to out HQ at Llwyngwair in good time for the evening’s activities.
Saturday evening we all sat down together at the Manor for a buffet dinner. Conversations of which there were many. Another good day, good company, food and drink.
Sunday morning and Kev paid us a visit in his Chevrolet pick-up, which was built like an army vehicle. We loaded his Harley into his Chevrolet and gradually almost everyone started to depart. Just a few stayed on the extra night. Many thanks to Kev for his efforts
Although not a motorcycle person, Marilyn and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend rally and thanks to all who participated. Safe and happy riding on these beautiful Indian machines to all of our cousins from Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales and worldwide.
Our Best Regards
Roger & Marilyn Ennis
